East, NE, central India to gain most from payments banks

Global work wear maker Williamson-Dickies Manufacturing Company (Dickies) and its exclusive licensee ID Overseas Pvt Ltd (ID Overseas) are looking at an investment of Rs 20 crore in a two year time frame. 

In November last year, Dickies, the US-based company announced its exclusive licensing agreement with ID Overseas authorising the latter to use Dickies' brand portfolio in the design, manufacturing, marketing and sale of licensed products in Indian Stock Market Trading Tips

Ten months down the line, they have bagged one major client namely the Hyderabad-based Rainbow group and have several others in the pipeline. 

Dickies along with its Indian partner plan to manufacture and sell garments focussing on healthcare, manufacture and mining, hospitality, tactical services and school wear in a phased manner. They will customise apparel based on each client's specification within the framework of the Dickies fabric, construction and performance standards. 

Dickies, a family owned business with its beginning in Texas, has been in the business of providing specialised and general apparel and related products for 93 years now. Explaining why they took so long to come to India, Michael Penn, senior vice-president of international sales, worldwide licensing and marketing, Dickies, said: "We spent the last 15 years building our brand in Asia. Currently, products are being manufactured out of factories in and around Bangalore employing around 15,000 workers. Commenting on the prospects of the healthcare industry which they are targeting in the first phase, Karthikeya R Reddy, the CEO and Director of ID Overseas said, "We see immense promise in the healthcare industry in India. Great strides in technology, increasing investment in infrastructure along with positive trends in medical tourism will lead to huge growth in the industry."
