MSME sector to be priority at Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit

The Rajasthan government will accord the status of state guest to about 45 invitees of Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit. According to officials, the inaugural session will be addressed by the Union finance minister Arun Jaitley and kick start the investors meet. The two-day event is expected to be attended by a dozen of ministers and stalwarts of business world.

"The state guest list has names of about 45 people including ministers from Centre. There are also some foreign dignitaries from the partner countries. They all will be accorded with the protocol meant for state guests," said an official from general administration department.

The valedictory speech would be given by minister for commerce and industry Nirmala Sitharaman. Along with her, minister for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), Kalraj Mishra, mines minister, Narendra Singh Tomar, power minister Piyush Goyal among others too would address the summit. Meanwhile, the prime minister office has informed the state government that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not take part in the event. Chief minsiter Vasundhara Raje had personally invited him.

The summit is a two-day global meet that is aimed at bringing in investments in Rajasthan. The government is seeking to partner with key stakeholders in its journey towards sustainable long-term growth and inclusive development.

A dedicated conclave will be held on 'MSME: Growth Engine of Make in India - Opportunities & Challenges' on the second day of the conference. Kalraj Mishra, Union cabinet minister of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) will be the chief guest for the conclave. A

t present more than 90% of industries in Rajasthan fall within the MSME category, and employ approximately 18.7 lakh people. The keynote address for the conclave will be delivered by Anup K Pujari, secretary, ministry of MSME, government of India.

The MSME sector in Rajasthan has grown steadily and now is the largest employer after agriculture. Having recognised the potential of this sector, the state government intends to harness its full potential by making it one of the core sectors that need investment.
