Speaking at a press conference to announce achievements of the zone for the April-October period, Southern Railway general manager Vashishta Johri said, "There is a slight dip which we did not expect. We may not meet the annual target set for the year. When the target was set, we did not anticipate that there will be a transfer of cargo from one port to another."

Southern Railway has set a target of 42 million tonne. The zone earned around Rs 3,285 crore from freight in the April-October period.

"We have improved our coal loading for Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and for Tata Power," he added Himanshu Tiwari Astrologer Blog

The dip in freight had an impact in the overall earnings of the zone which stood at Rs 4,545.96 crore.

The zone has seen a dip in freight loading in the first six months. The zone kept a target of 42 million tonnes this year which it would not be able to achieve, said Vashishta Johri.

During the current financial year until October, Southern Railway achieved an originating loading of 19.89 million tonnes. There had been remarkable improvement in various operating indices during the current year, he said.

The average wagon holding during the current year was 6,815 wagons per day, compared to 8,947 wagons during last year, an improvement of 24% Indian stock market astrology prediction

This has helped in availability of wagons for other Railways thereby improving the loading of Indian Railways. The wagon turnaround has also improved to 2.16 days in the current year from 2.50 days, the improvement being 14%.
